Part 3

The Tortilla Curtain revolves around the middle class values and their relation to the issues of illegal immigration, poverty, and the American dream. Immigrants, Cรกndido and Amรฉrica, as well as Delaney and his family and friends. This novel shows the difference in families and social  status, these families struggle but have different problems which test their relationship as a family. The animals and nature playing major parts in the story for example, there is a coyote which represents a strong family member that will do anything to protect their family which is similar to some of the family members.

Part 2

The role of the coyotes in, “The Tortilla Curtain” is to show that not only do coyotes show no fear but they show no fear to fight for their family. We all have family we would do anything for and they are the same, they have family they hunt, kill, and die for. The author shows that the coyote is not the one to blame and they would probably do the same if in the coyotes position. The chapter revolves around the coyotes actions and how they affect the everyday lives of them. I personally think that the coyotes should obviously be fear but known as the best pack leaders, considering what they would do for each other. In today’s news, the have been no connection that I know of. Due to the fact that the only news I keep up with is social platform news.

PTSD

Part 2

When you have PTSD, the world feels unsafe. You may have upsetting memories, feel on edge, or have trouble sleeping. Anyone can develop PTSD at any age. Although PTSD has medication to help cope with symptoms, people often ignore the long term effects of the mental illness and medication. This medication has the following harmful and negative side effects; Sleep problems, headache and dizziness, shaking and feeling anxious, loss of appetite and vomiting, irritated kreally easily, worsening depression and harmful thoughts about suicide and or hurting yourself.

For women the risk of having a premature baby with complications and birth defects are extremely high. As a person who has PTSD, you tend to always feel unsafe and on edge. PTSD is a mental illness that some people develop after experiencing or witnessing a life threatening event like combat, natural disasters, car accidents, sexual assault, or abuse. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a serious issue for not only veterans, kids, adults and non veterans. Some people spend hundreds of dollars on treatments trying to find ways to cope with this mental illness.

PTSD

Part 1

I selected Post Traumatic Stress Disorder because a large amount of people think that veterans who have served in a war should have PTSD. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can affect anyone, any age, any gender, and any personality. My close friend, Sarah, has suffered with PTSD since she was 15 years old. When she tells someone she has PTSD, she is often laughed at and taunt her about how she can have PTSD due to the fact she hasn’t been in a war so she hasn’t been through anything traumatizing. Sarah has shared with me she can’t enjoy the same things she used to. I know about the side effects of this medication, these include and are not limited to; feeling worse about yourself, high risks of birth defects if you are a woman, Antidepressants can increase the risk of suicidal thinking, skin rash, inability to sit still, restlessness, difficulty with concentration, drowsiness, and headaches.

I hope everyone learns how hard living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder really is, this is a serious mental illness and should not be belittled. This mental illness affects you now and in the future, which is hard to cope with when you have a family. At the end of the day I hope everyone can learn that these people may have not served in a war, but by surviving PTSD you are a soldier. PTSD is a serious mental condition that some people develop after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event, like combat, a natural disaster, a car accident, sexual assault or abuse.
